Hi everybody,
First and foremost, a big thank you to John Davis for answering my damn-fool questions. Advice is free, but with people like me it might just end up costing YOU your sanity!:)
Thanks also to everyone for making your endless resources of technical and musical knowledge available, as well as sharing your passion with us newbloods.
I finally found an affordable, playable pedal steel. Not so easy here in France, I had to travel to Germany to pick it up. It's a one owner from new '76 Fender Sho-Bud student model, and a massive improvement on my 6-string PSG. Maybe not the finest instrument, but the action is buttery smooth and it has all its strings (more than I'll ever need, probably). I just picked it up yesterday, so I'll post some snaps once I've got my breath back...
Anyway, now that I've got past the "So, which way up do you hold this thing?" stage, I'm hoping (keyword alert!!!) to make some progress. The music theory side mostly makes sense, it's the playing technique and getting those soaring, crying notes that I'm going to need your help with.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and thank you in advance for you help.
Happy Easter,
Nico
